Primary source verification. Every data point on FinanceStackHub is sourced directly from official government agencies and recognized financial authorities — IRS for tax brackets and contribution limits, the Federal Reserve and FRED for market rates, the SSA for Social Security data, and leading fund providers for ETF and benchmark data. We do not aggregate from third-party scrapers or user-submitted content. Each source is assigned a base confidence score (0.95 for IRS/Treasury/SSA, 0.90 for Federal Reserve/BLS, 0.85 for major fund providers) reflecting the authority and reliability of that source.
Automated refresh pipelines. Our data refresh system runs on a defined cadence for each source category — tax bracket data refreshes annually after IRS publication, market rates refresh weekly, benchmark data refreshes monthly. When a refresh pipeline succeeds, the confidence score resets to its authority baseline. When a pipeline fails, confidence automatically decays by 0.10 per missed cycle (floor: 0.30), and sources are flagged as degraded after 3 consecutive failures. This means you always see a live, honest assessment of data quality — not a static "verified" badge.
Transparency as a feature. Generic AI financial tools use training data with unknown cutoffs. We believe users deserve to know exactly how fresh the data behind AI-generated recommendations is. The freshness badges visible on every AI tool page reflect real-time status from this directory. A green badge means all underlying sources are within their refresh window. Yellow means at least one source is approaching its refresh deadline. Red means action is needed — and we surface that proactively rather than hiding it.
